How do I know what toys are age appropriate for my child?
Many toys will list a suggested age range on the packaging but for those that don’t examine the toy and decide if there are any parts that may be considered dangerous to the child.
I have heard a lot about lead paints and plastic toys, should I be concerned?
Recently a number of toys made in China were found to contain traces of lead. Most of these toys were immediately pulled from the shelves. When buying toys for our child check the label for a lead-free statement, if you are really concerned there are a number of natural toy makers in the market that guarantee only the use of safe materials in the toy.
What kinds of toys should I buy for my infant?
Look for toys that have musical qualities, bright colors, and lots of fun textures and shapes. These will help encourage brain development and improve hand eye coordination. And as always check the label to make sure it’s safe, free of toxins, and age appropriate.
